Tradition Returns to Topsfield
The town of Topsfield is known for its running rivers, rolling hills—and a rich sense of history. With tradition in mind, Anita led this interior restoration of a home that had more than good bones—it held the promise of becoming a stately mansion. With a focus on the first floor, a strategy was put in place to refashion and refresh finishes, while sourcing appropriate furnishings and period antiques for the space. Anita envisioned a family room that harked back to its once-grand past, with floor-to-ceiling mahogany panels, coffered ceilings, a new mantel and fireplace surround. The new features were seamlessly integrated into the space, thanks to a wonderful collaboration with the Howell Custom Building Group of Lawrence, MA. To impart the sense of authenticity the project deserved, Anita turned to her friend David Neligan, a renowned antiques dealer in Essex, MA, who sourced and restored the finest quality furnishings and accessories—thereby adding the finishing touches to a beautifully refined project.

Project Plans and Approach
This project is a classic example of respectfully working with an existing structure that has great bones but needs refinement with classic design. With this project, we accomplished that by designing gorgeous mahogany millwork throughout and using fine antiques that make this beautiful home timeless today and for many years to come.
